Since its inception in January of 2005, New Hope Community Church has actively put James' advice into practice within the Meadowview community. Over time, we have introduced many of our neighbors to our Lord Jesus Christ, or reconnected believers who have strayed from the Christian walk. Among many other things, we established a weekly food closet; conducted various outreach events, such as basketball camps, holiday feasts, free concerts, healthy relationships seminars, after school programs; participated in local summer anti-gang initiatives; performed random acts of kindness and charity; and of course, spread Our Lord's message in Sunday services.
Our mission is exemplified by our methods. For example: Our food closet is non-traditional. We not only feed our neighbors physically, but also spiritually. We don’t just hand out bags of food, we get to know our recipients by name, offer prayer for those in need, and give weekly spiritual messages. We invite each person to examine themselves and realize the program is a gift from God.
Our charter is to advance God's Kingdom by showing His love through our actions. Rather than just giving handouts to the needy, we want to help individuals build confidence and self-esteem to improve their lives, gain independence, and most importantly save their eternal souls. We strive to lift up the people of Meadowview - to offer them hope through Our Lord Jesus Christ.
We feel called to expand existing services and ministries, and create new opportunities to bring people to the Lord. Efforts such as additional food closet distributions; classes for financial management, English as a Second Language, computer skills, resume writing and interviewing skills; teen pregnancy and new mother counseling; childcare assistance during job search, etc.
However, the economic reality of the Meadowview area is that we now need to raise funds (for the first time) just to keep our doors open. If New Hope is forced to close, we know that at least 1,000 households will be immediately affected.
We believe through prayer that all things are possible. We also believe that God uses people when He performs miracles so He can be glorified through our success.
